Welcome to the Bembridge Sailing Club Web site; it has been kept very simple and is intended to provide members with a useful source of up to date information. If you can't see a tiled menu then please check that your browser accepts javascript. For non-Broadband users, pictures take a little time to load - don't despair - its worth the wait!.
Members Area
To access the Members area at the bottom of the page, use the shortened christian name of the Club Secretary (lower case) as the User Name, and the year the Club was founded as the Password. This area includes membership application forms, sections of the 2008 Year Book (including the programme but not the address section) and in due course the 2008 menus. I am afraid that you will find some adverts from Bravenet but hopefully you can find what you want.

Congratulations to Club Member Andre Zlattinger and his sherpa Kaljin who are pictured here on the summit of Everest on 22nd May. For more details see http://www.andre-everest.com/

The late Betty Evans
Betty died on 9th May 2008. In accordance with her wishes for a "jolly and happy wake", there will be a finger buffet at the Island Sailing Club on Monday 7th of July starting at 2pm.
If you plan on attending, please inform Carol Jones at Glanvilles (01983 527878) or e-mail g.lambie@glanvilles.co.uk
A busy week in parts with the successful launch of the Bembridge RNLI New Lifeboatt Appeal on Monday evening, and the Friends of Holy Trinity Church Summer Soirée on Saturday evening followed by a BODA supper in the Club Room.
Superb sailing breeze on both days, although with typically difficult tides on the Round the Island Race weekend, there were reduced numbers of boats out enjoying it. Well done to Pete & Hayley Landon (and assorted crew from BSC) on board their recently purchased 25 year old 38 foot Mahjong of Taipie who came in 346th (and 17th in Class) out of the 1800+ entries. Pretty good considering the top of the mainsail ripped just off Yarmouth! After some excellent sewing by Neil Mitchell it was re-hoisted at the Needles and amazingly lasted for the rest of the race.
Remember that you can now check up on the weather at BSC by clicking on the appropriate blue bar above. Currently it is set to upload data from our new weather station sited on the top of the Dining Room roof every half an hour.
Finally, don't forget that you can view & download (in pdf format) copies of the Courses Booklet from the bottom blue "Sailing" bar above and the Christmas Wavelength from the "Wavelength" blue bar (NB: Cadet Week (page 4) should of course read Dinghy Week 2 and Oppy 2 (page 5) is 4th-8th Aug not July! Sorry about the typos). You will need to enter the members section to access the 2008 programme (in 3 sections).

Neil Mitchell about to start his excellent sewing! Round the Island Race 08

Hayley Landon (wearing Tom Scott's smart hat!) enjoying helming between the Ledge & No Man's Land Fort. A prize for what Tom was thinking!! Round the Island Race 08
